CHOREOGRAPHIC CONVENTION opening
IN OTHER WORDS: A FUTURE

The last couple of years have brought along manifold reminders of just how profound humanity’s dependance on nature and its state of health really is; however, the fact that the ways we live on and with this planet are not exclusively shaped by climate action (and inaction) but just as much by language and bodily expression, often takes a backseat. What things, that have been permanently etched into nature, are being repressed by humans? How can we excavate them and how can they help us confront current crises? In accordance with these questions, Choreographic Convention VII will take place over the course of two weeks, starting in Budapest on 8 July before moving to ImPulsTanz on 9 July amongst others to Volkstheater, Odeon and MQ – Libelle. Under the title In Other Words: A Future, it combines discursive approaches with artistic ones and dedicates a number of guest performances, readings and panels both to our planet’s history and to its future which, with each day, seems to slip further from our grasp.

The Choreographic Convention VII will be introduced by Dr. Brigitte Bierlein on 9 July at 18:30 at Volkstheater.
A format by Life Long Burning – Towards A Sustainable Eco-System for Contemporary Dance in Europe.
