Demonstrating love, loyalty and belonging in our society often means that, as a result, others will be excluded or hurt. According to author and historian Sarah Schulman, the logics of destructive concepts of loyalty can be understood in terms of an abandoned person demanding that you must also be unfriendly towards the partner who has left them. and and is part of a process that started in 2018 with the piece and, questioning the origins of a politics of stigmatisation which rules out any constructive conflict resolution. and and will thereby further engage with issues of class and milieu distinctions.
