KLANGHAIN: Symbioses and Networks
KLANGHAIN is a public sound installation dedicated to biological and sonar-digital subcultures in Josefstadt's enchanting Schönbornpark. Themed “Symbioses and Networks”, we explore the subterranean worlds.
The multispecies collective Interspecifics (MX) along with media artists Saša Spačal (SI) and Jiří Suchánek (CZ) speculate on underground life forms: how they live together and how we humans interact with them. They’ve developed instruments bringing the universes of these alien species closer to us.
Earthworms provide impulses for electrical circuits, forming the basis of new musics (Jiří Suchánek). The interspecies connection between bacteria and humans is made tangible (Interspecifics). A symbiotic-sensual contact between humans and fungi is made imaginable (Saša Spačal). By rendering bio-data audible, we leave anthropomorphic form and search for sound experiences that reflect the systems of nature.
The sonar-digital and biological subcultures can be explored in the temporary installation KLANGHAIN Schönbornpark from 24. May to 14. July 2024. Workshops, lectures and live performances during the runtime will deepen the cross-species experience.
