Exhibition opening with performances by Peter Fritzenwallner, Thomas Hörl, Barbis Ruder, Sebastiano Sing, Sööt/Zeyringer, and Julischka Stengele
The opening of the exhibition presents selected sculptural works by Berlin-based artists in dialogue with performances by Viennese artists, starting at 7 pm and continuing throughout the course of the evening.
The artistic transfer between Berlin and Vienna has always generated new constellations and synergies as well as resistance and rivalry. Elastic Collisions pushes these relations a step further: Selected artworks from the exhibition Arcadia Unbound at the former GDR radio broadcasting station, part of the Berlin Art Week in 2015, are transported to Kunsthalle Exnergasse to create a new frame of reference. These works form the basis for performative interventions by seven Viennese artists, who employ a multifaceted array of approaches to the staging of space, the body, and narration in their work. Through the interaction between the different art forms, the exhibition creates a new open space for confrontations and interconnections.
