Día del los Meurtos
On the occasion of All Saints’ Day, the Weltmuseum Wien and Latinidade Kulturforum invite you to a celebration of senses, colours, and joy: the Mexican Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos). In Mexico this holiday dedicated to the dead is celebrated with music, dance, and food. In an atmosphere similar to a carnival, not only the dead are honoured but also life and its joys celebrated. Accompanied by theatre, singing, and dance performances, we invite you to our procession to the Hall of Columns with a specially built altar dedicated to the dead with all kinds of decorations including paintings and graphics of the Mexican artist Miguel Valverde. Afterwards you are welcome to join our celebration with mariachi music, folk dance groups, a design and craft market, and a wide selection of Mexican delicacies.
