"Landscape has been a fixed reference- and friction-point for Alfons Pressnitz for years. His pictures slave away at ideas of the idyll – a snowy plain rips open threateningly, detached houses stand on the edge of a rocky crag or sink into a mountain of rubble that has been washed up. Pressnitz conjures up images of media catastrophes and plays them off against homeowners’ hopes of security and comfort. Architectural elements traditionally fulfil the function in landscape painting of fitting nature into a human order, but Pressnitz shows the locations in which people live as subject to nature’s order and forces – and thus inscribes a clearly temporal element into this motifs: in these landscapes, man appears only in the form of the traces he has left behind. Fragments of architecture and rubbish still provide evidence of his presence, but he himself has long since disappeared from the picture." -Oona Lochner.

With the exhibition "Interior Landscape" at Galerie Gerersdorfer, the Austrian artist Alfons Pressnitz transfers his fixation with landscapes into interior spaces and room situations. The interiors are fractured and broken in their representation and have been put together into new formations. The fragments become themselves new spaces and charaterise so a rapidly changing.

The artist will be present.
