Sir Neil MacGregor: Modern & Contemporary Talk
As part of our Modern & Contemporary series of talks, the former director of the British Museum Sir Neil MacGregor will be in November.
Sir Neil MacGregor (born 1946) is the director of the founding directorate of the Berlin Humboldt Forum. He studied languages at Oxford, philosophy at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, and art history at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, and then became publisher of Burlington Magazine. In 1987, he was appointed director of the National Gallery in London, where he was responsible for a series of groundbreaking exhibitions and acquisitions. From 2002 to 2015, he served as the director of the British Museum, where he initiated the award-winning BBC series "A History of the World in 100 Objects," which explores human history through objects from the British Museum. In October 2017, the first episode of MacGregor's new radio series on Religion and Belief "Living with the Gods" aired.
