PAUL WENNINGER - Trespass, Uncanney Valley, Dead Reckoning Film Screening + Talk
Paul Wenninger presents his films and tells how the work on dance and the choreography led him to the animation film, to the pixilation; How the dance stimulates the work in the animation and, like the sequence of the animation, again enhances the choreography as stage events. The possibility in the film to apply the knowledge of dancers, who navigate the body through the continuum of space and time. The possibility in the film to choreograph the eye of the viewers, to guide the view, to establish proximity where the distance is already in the medium itself.
Paul Wenninger was born in 1966 in Vienna, is a freelance dancer and author, creates choreographic works and is a film-maker with a focus on pixelation and animation. Since 1999 he has been the artistic director of the Kabinett ad Co., a working platform for artists from the most diverse arts trends in order to realise interdisciplinary projects with a focus on the body. He has worked with various choreographers and companies, among others in France with the Cie. Catherine Diverrès at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Rennes et Bretagne. His works have been shown and won prizes internationally.
