You may wonder why I do insist on this name so much.

I was born in London. When I was 2 years old we moved to South Tyrol/Italy.
Until I was seven years old, everyone called me Sharif, though when I was baptized, I had to change my name from Sharif to Daniel, since Sharif was not accepted as a Catholic name. This influenced my life considerably, as I till then was "the Sherif" which by its nature induced other children to show respect. However, after getting a common name I became somehow more vulnerable. At this point I must say that my mother would have chosen another name for me but there was this very quiet guy in town whose name was Daniel, he played the organ in our church and I kind of liked the idea of meeting him on the street and have a kind of mirror effect because I had chosen his name.
Of course he knew that he was Daniel, wich he had always been, it was quiet a magic moment when we first met after I was baptized.
At the grammarschool in Bruneck, I had a German teacher, unfortunately I can't remember her name, who refused to call me Daniel and used my official name Abdul Sharif.
So everyone in Bruneck started calling me Abdul.
After moving to Vienna I started calling myself Sharif again.
