Alexandra Pirici and Manuel Pelmus represented Romania at the 55th Venice Biennial in 2013: they formulated their contribution as an experience, they transferred objects into actions. In “An Immaterial Retrospective of the Venice Biennal” a group of performers were revisiting the history of the Biennial, repeatedly, every day, and translated previous contributions where personal and collective memories were triggered. In this presentation and workshop Manuel Pelmuş is reflecting on the process, realisation, and experience working on that project and other works.
Manuel Pelmuş is a choreographer from Bucharest. He has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, most recently his projects were shown at, a.o., Tate Modern, London, Tate Liverpool (2016), Ludwig Museum, Cologne (2016), Off-Biennale Budapest (2015), The Kiev Biennale, Kiev (2015).

A series of workshops and artist talks

Appropriation is an educational process in which sometimes the appropriated and the appropriator´s experience changes. Based on art works related to Appropriation Art this series discusses how these (ex)changes take place and what they produce. The event will focus on performative art, which in its documentary character often refers to the oral history of its referenced artistic works.
