The Soundscapes of Resistance event series invites artists from diverse cultural backgrounds to channel their artistic sonic practices into a powerful examination of healing, community, and identity. The artist talks will be held in a space where the artist share their care practices, embracing emotional self through advocating for the radical empowerment of softness and offer a unique perspective, drawing from personal narratives, cultural heritage, and lived experiences to interrogate the myriad manifestations of disparity.
Zeynab Kirikou Gueye (Prag/Wien)(they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher, sound technician, community organizer, and a DJ based in Vienna. Their practice is influenced by their interest in naturalcultural ecologies, research in postcolonial studies and the abilities to dream of visionary futurisms amidst social depression. Since 2017, they are articulating the intersections of their different artistic and curious practices mainly through the study of music, performance, and the politics of the dancefloor, and through collaboration with artists and researchers on interdisciplinary and frequently politically involved projects.
Soundscapes of Resistance is a project curated by Ale Zapata in the scope of the kültüř gemma! in cooperation with DAS WEISSE HAUS!
