Andrea Büttner. Beggars and iPhones
8/6 – 18/9 2016
Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz
In her first solo-show in Austria Andrea Büttner connects the terminology of art and cultural history with socially relevant issues by employing a range of different techniques. For Beggars and iPhones she develops a special setting reversing common notions such as the inside and outside, the perceptible and hidden. Like a large installation it brings together classic media such as woodcut or reverse glass painting in combination with video, and dried and pressed moss beds.
Andrea Büttner’s work, often displayed in specific arrangements that she herself has conceived, has been shown in numerous leading art institutions and biennials, including Documenta 13.
