Maya Deren born Eleonora Derenkowska was a Russian-American filmmaker and one of the most important American experimental filmmakers and entrepreneurial promoters of the avant-garde in the 1940s and 1950s. Deren was also a choreographer, dancer, film theorist, poet, lecturer, writer and photographer.

James Broughton was an American poet and poetic filmmaker. He was part of the San Francisco Renaissance, a precursor to the Beat poets. He was an early bard of the Radical Faeries[1] as well as a member of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,[2] serving the community as Sister Sermonetta.
