On the future of knowledge systems and the materiality of information

The artists and scientists of the Data Loam project explore the past and future of knowledge systems and postulate the urgent need to develop new forms of organization beyond solidified categorization and indexing.

The goal must be to break free from the corset of lexical and encyclopaedic orders that have been established and to dissolve the hierarchies and valuations inscribed in them, without creating new and perhaps much more profound distortions.

Instead of further working towards a shortening, binary ontology, we want to conceive of information as a dynamic network of interacting particles and thus ultimately as a form of matter in which even ambivalent, undecidable and ephemeral can be integrated and mapped.
