In 1986, the year in which he was diagnosed HIV-positive, Derek Jarman films the life of the first great painter of the Italian early Baroque: Michelangelo Merisi, who calls himself Caravaggio after his birthplace. In the form of an experimental approach, the eminent British filmmaker examines above all the aspect of an artist torn between the world of his patrons and patrons and those of his destitute models, ultimately becoming an outsider in all social spheres and, at the end, an unwanted by victim of his intrigue.

Director: Derek Jarman (1986, 93 min) OV
