Angewandte Festival 2019

ANGEWANDTE FESTIVAL 2019, the new annual event of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, opens up the institution and negotiates sociopolitical topics, as well as artistic approaches, together with the public. Oskar-Kokoschka-Platz is transformed into a stage hosting various formats that explore this year’s leitmotif “Öffnungen / Openings”. This guiding theme refers to the opening of the institution to the public and aims to shake up deadlocked structures with artistic strategies. In the partly new premises of the university, the departments present their work and augment the exhibition with multidisciplinary contributions. With interventions, installations, open classes, performances, round tables, impulses, concerts/DJ sets, workshops, tours, and screenings, the universitiy invites guests to actively participate in the diverse program.
