Split district, two-part festival center. Like no other, the 15th district is divided into two halves. In the north: the more populous, only after 1850 urbanized. To the south: the historical, dating back to the Middle Ages. In between tracks. VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will be taking part in this range with two festival centers. While the Blue House at the Westbahnhof, recently used as a refugee emergency stop, is being transformed by IKEA into an architecturally appealing gateway to the district, the former branch of the central park at the Sparkassaplatz, which was redesigned in the 1970s by Johann Georg Gsteu, invites on board of an urbanized jewel with a keel-shaped ground plan. In addition, all talks, panels, and lectures take place here. In this sense: design connects. Also the 15th district.
