Jan Fabre. STIGMATA is a voyage into the memory of one of the biggest contemporary artists through drawings, photographs, sculptures, costumes, texts quotes, archival documents and study models – which Fabre refers to as “Thinking Models” – and filmic documentations of his performance and poetic actions, from the second half of the 1970s to the present. Visitors are greeted by a labyrinth of tables introducing the artist’s philosophies. This tool serves to understand his ideas, his memories, his art, profoundly inspired by the traditions of Flemish painting and focused on the study and use of the body.

This summer, the series of themed presentations featuring the permanent collection will shine the spotlight on female images from the Leopold Collection. The selection of works focuses on the period from 1830 to 1930. The first part of the presentation highlights specific themes, such as female portraits, mother-and-child depictions, the environment of women, renderings of female youth and old age, as well as women as nude models.

The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to works created by female artists, including paintings, graphic works and sculptures by Tina Blau, Marie Egner, Olga Wisinger-Florian, Broncia Koller-Pinell, Käthe Kollwitz, Emma Bormann, Wally Wieselthier, Maria Likarz and Kitty Rix.

40 chief works by Alfred Kubin enter in the newly created Graphic Cabinet into an enchanting dialogue with the author Radek Knapp.

It is the question of all questions: who am I, where do I come from, where am I going? Radek Knapp seeks the answer in a fanciful tale based on select graphic works from all periods of Alfred Kubin’s oeuvre. Alfred Kubin's work comprises more than two thousand book illustrations. Radek Knapp has reversed the dialogue between author and illustrator, with the writer reacting to the artist’s images. The result of this unusual project is an exhibition as a story – or rather a story one can walk through. The Hour of Birth – fantastical, original and enchanting.
