Under the title "the good enough mother mother", the Otto Mauer award winner 2017 Toni Schmale presents selected works in the Jesuit Foyer.

Before Toni devoted herself to art, she was a professional footballer. From 1994 to 2002 she played in the regional and Bundesliga and most recently in the German national women's team. After ending her career as a footballer, she began studying media art at the Leipzig Academy of Visual Arts in 2003. In 2009 she moved to the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the class Performative Art of Carola Dertnig and graduated in 2013 in the class Performative Sculpture with Monica Bonvicini her diploma.

Her sculptures, performances, drawings, animations, videos and interventions in public space formulate a critique of the existing social and social power relations. Schichte's work questions stereotypical gender constructions and attributions. Her queer-feminist perspective on power, control and order confidently stages her with sculptural means.
