TOBIAS HOFFKNECHT Immature

Under the title "Immature", five sculptures made of polished stainless steel specially designed for the exhibition will be shown, whose performative potential unfolds in the interaction between the space and the viewer.

In conjunction with their surroundings, the reflective quality of the material becomes a colorless surface that is open to any outside influence. The withdrawn installations merge with the green of the floor, absorbing the radiant white of the walls and registering every kind of movement.

Lines and surfaces begin to interact. The tubular steel constructions grow, expand and become more and more homogeneous bodies, in which the filigree of the pipes becomes static. In the eyes of an attentive observer who recognizes the dialogical potential of the work and allows his own associations full bent the sculptures unfold their special power. The unity is thus reinterpreted as an openness without condition.

Tobias Hoffknecht was born in Bochum in 1987. He studied experimental sculpture at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Rosemarie Trockel. His works have already been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions. Special mention should be given to his individual presentations at Kunstverein Bochum and Museum Morsbroich in Leverkusen. He lives and works in Düsseldorf.
