sync - the title referres synchron, simultaneous, coming from the Greek language, common (syn) and time (chronos)

Agnes Hamvas and Astrid Sodomka describe the temporal behavior of two different systems, sound and image, with deterministic chaotic dynamics. They walk on traces of transience, with the intention of preserving elusive moments. How can volatile moments be preserved without involving one's own interpretation? It is a play of being and appearance, of artificially produced permanent volatility, a paradox which can be established as such only by means of contemporary art. We can also see the display as a deterministic chaos, knowing that different repetitions of an experiment can produce very different results.

Agnes Hamvas´s narration is based on 3 sources, found postcards, entries from a holiday photo album, as well as diary notes. The different texts come from 3 sound sources, which can be manipulated by the visitor. The various registers (read by Stefan Wieland, edited by Elias Berner) mark the moment in which they are recorded, which information is filtered or reproduced. The meaning of the moment, the experience, flows into the text.

Astrid Sodomka tries to capture this volatility of a moment visually. The alternation of light and shadow, moved and steady surfaces, changing moods. It captures fleeting moments, giving them permanence. The research concerns the authentic moments, the image formation contains the artificial imitation of the reality, by the temporarily observed moments artificially generated.
