Subcultures Under Pressure

Female:pressure has been calling for a sober view of reality since 2013. Female:pressure, as well as many other groups in Vienna and Berlin, demand more diversity in line-ups and bookings - want a greater diversity with regard to gender, age, class, cultural identity or (dis)abilities. The issue of responsibility and equality of opportunity is even more urgent, as the restructuring of global turbo-capitalism creates new exclusions and inequalities. Gender mainstreaming and feminism are also being harnessed for a neoliberal gender regime.

Existing strategies of events are to be shown and questioned, utopias are formulated, because in the increasingly precarious working world we are finding less and less time. Members of female:pressure from Vienna and Berlin invite you to a discussion with organizers from Vienna and beyond, to order to remember the necessity of communication and community and not only of networking in the scene. As an introduction to the discussion, Electric Indigo will give an overview of the female:pressure activities up to date.
