in EXPLOSION of SILENCE – a silent chorus, a group of over 100 people of all ages and linguistic backgrounds and with diverse ways of life will gather at one place and form a silent chorus, a formation that will take over the space and bring it to silence. in the course of the hour-long intervention, there will be a choreographed sequence of movements, quotidian gestures and alterations of positions. after about 50 minutes, each chorus-participant will begin to whisper loudly and recite his or her biography in his or her respective native language. hereafter the formation will dissolve and each person will exit the space separately. EXPLOSION OF SILENCE– a silent chorus conquers public space to negotiate social differences. public space thereby becomes a temporary archive of a multicultural society.
