Peter Doig
Peter Doig (born 1959 in Edinburgh) was awarded the prestigious Whitechapel Artist Prize and nominated for the Turner Prize in 1994. Doig had large solo exhibitions in institutions such as Tate Britain, London, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt, the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, to name just a few. He is definitely one of the most renowned living figurative painters, who he has settled in Trinidad since 2002. In 2007, his painting White Canoe sold at Sotheby's for $11.3 million, then an auction record for a living European artist.
