"From the Outside to the Inside" is a continuation of our series of exhibitions dealing with art as a membrane between the outer and inner states of the human existence. The former exhibition from January 2018 dealt with reflection and transformation of emotions and mental states into an external constitution and solidification, whereas, now the exact opposite becomes the centre of attention - the inevitable dissolution of real conditions through their intrusion into our world of feelings and thoughts.

The works by Rosa Aiello, Kelly Akashi, Daniel Lergon, Peter Miller and Nazim Ünal Yilmaz lead us into a hidden world of ideas through the visual and haptic appeal of the art works surfaces. The surface itself serves as an interface between the inside and the outside becoming the manifest carrier of latent messages.

Thereby, the gestural colour application and the special materiality of the colour can leave the artist’s personal fingerprint as well as the picture track of the video screen, which is able to write on the screen only for a fraction of a second. The cross-media works appeal to our visual memory as much as our tactile sensations. Filigree glass works make our seeing a reality, drawings can act as self-portraits without ever being touched by the artist’s hands, and spatial installations mediate between transparency and opacity - between concealing and revealing.
