For this years’ summer festival of Vienna’s Volkertmarkt we invited the Brazilian artists Daniella Domingues and Ricardo Portilho, and the author Christoph Szalay. They will present an installation that adapts, transforms, and challenges complex concepts of traditions and rituals, and home and neighborhood.

The artists testify radical changes of viewpoints as a tactic of political and social transformation by understanding the Festa/Volksfest rather as a an encounter of Poesis (making) and praxis (political or collective activity) and poetry, than the impossibility of togetherness under capital or ideology. They produce a common space that is not only conformable and affirmative but also explores the sometimes uneasy conflictual alliance of a gathering in a diverse society and neighborhood.

The central reading of the evening by Christoph Szalay will be staged within the installation
