NOÉ SOULIER - Faits et Gestes

In his latest work Noé Soulier goes deeper into the matter of the gesture and explores the contingency of different stages of our movement.
The dancers form an abstract choreography in which gestures can suggest movements: like a preparation for a movement that is aiming for a missing target, apparently summoning meaning. The arrangement of Baroque composition patterns here serves as the inspiration for the improvised solos and duets in which Soulier has the music of the composers Johann Jakob Froberger appear in dialogue with his movement patterns. The composition of the movement patterns is not designed from outside but arises on the basis of a set of rules on which each evening’s performance develops and depicts its own “internal choreography”.
