Mårten Spångberg - The Internet
The Internet is a performance that feels like plunging into a strange, miraculous landscape made of dance, sculptures and music, balancing between a night at the theatre and a visit to a museum. Mårten Spångberg and three excellent dancers, Sandra Lolax, Hanna Strandberg and Rebecka Stillman, are inside this landscape to explore how digital communication affects choreography: social networks, health apps, games, dating tools and more are used to create dance, rhythms and moods.
The title The Internet is a metaphor for a monumental but immaterial structure that has no beginning and no end – just like the internet. The four-hour performance invites spectators to run around, observe, relax and converse. It is even allowed to leave and come back later.
Swedish performer, choreographer and theorist Mårten Spångberg worked with Xavier le Roy, Christine de Smedt (les ballets C de la B), Jan Ritsema and the Frankfurt Ballet. He has established the International Festival for Architecture and Dance together with architect Tor Lindstrand. Mårten Spångberg’s most recent works have found great acclaim, his œuvre has been praised as “unspectacular and assumingly revolutionary”. www.martenspangberg.se
