LAURA WAGNER Obelisks

The exhibition OBELISKS shows concrete sculptures that are not only oriented in their monumentality to their namesake. Starting from ancient Egyptian obelisks, the light is poured through a window into a room in concrete. The shaping of light through architecture is made tangible and shows to what extent the experience of power, hierarchy and self-image is shaped by our environment. The focus is on the idea that spatial experiences are shaped by concrete people (politicians and architects, town planners and engineers), in whose construction projects also concrete human images flow.
The paper works HALOS & RAYS extend the subject with pictures of meteorites, the cosmic light sculptures, which share their perspective with surveillance cameras.
