The band was founded in 2011 with the fantasy name Klaus Johann Grobe. They released their debut EP in self-distribution at the end of 2011. Salvation Records in Liverpool completely bought the remaining copies in 2012 and released them one more time. This led Klaus Grobe to Great Britain, where they played on 27 September 2013 at the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia. From the following offers of several labels, the band decided for the 2009 founded US label Trouble In Mind Records from Chicago. The single Traumhaft was released in February 2014, followed by the debut album Im Zeit der Zeit on April 29, 2014.

In 2014, they toured the second half of the year through Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom. On September 26, 2014, they performed again at the Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia. In late 2014 they were in Germany tour support for the US garage rock The Growlers and support for the British rock band Temples on their December tour through the UK.

2015 started with a big tour of the UK, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain. They played, among others, the Maifeld Derby, Eurosonic, The Great Escape, Eindhoven Psych Lab, Paleo Festival and Zaragoza Psychfest. On May 24, 2015 played at the 2nd Way Back When Festival in Dortmund. On July 21, 2015, they played at the 40th Paléo Festival Nyon in Nyon, Switzerland. On April 29, 2016, a gig was scheduled for the Levitation Festival in Austin, Texas, but the festival was canceled due to bad weather. The second album Spagat der Liebe was released on May 6, 2016 via Trouble In Mind / Cargo Records. In July 2016, Klaus Johann Grobe went on the first tour of the United States. In July 2016, they visited the United States for the second time, now as support of Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
