Jan Fabre / Troubleyn (BE) – Belgian Rules / Belgium Rules
Here it comes, the most passionate of all homages to the most artistically charged theatre state in all of Europe: to Belgium, under its surreal silver sky that turns dark at times and has to weep frequently. Jan Fabre mixes the colours of his home country in a new way, putting both their most delicious glimmers of light and their dark sides in the spotlight. The universal artist ploughs through myths and realities with excessive images, laconically and ironically, far more inclined towards the Manneken Pis than to the Atomium but close to Magritte. It’s only logical that the first performance of this boundless orgy takes place in Austria, Europe’s other Absurdistan.
