IAN KALER - o.T. | (Incipient Futures)
In (Incipient Futures) the choreographer Ian Kaler continues his collaboration from the first and second part of his choreographic series o.T. (german acronym for „untitled“) with musician and multimedia artist Planningtorock.
The title of the piece signalizes to set in motion a plurality of futures. In O.T.‘s third edition Kaler and Planningtorock are joined live on stage by the guest-performer and fashion-designer Stephane Peeps Moun as well as the drummer Joy Leah Joseph.
(Incipient Futures) is an energetic and intimate exploration of how music, dance and movement form, alter and play with (temporal) unions, bonds and alliances, how we're being moved as a community and asks the question where we're heading towards as individuals and together.
The set-designer and visual artist Stephanie Rauch designs a close-encounter arena-like set-up for (Incipient Futures).

The series o.T. is a production of Ian Kaler in coproduction with HAU Hebbel am Ufer, ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival, Norrlandsoperan and Tanzquartier Wien in Cooperation with Tanzfabrik Berlin and APAP - Advancing Performing Arts Project - Performing Europe supported by Wien Kultur, Der Regierende Bürgermeister von Berlin Senatskanzlei Kulturelle Angelegenheiten and NATIONALE PERFORMANCE NETZ (NPN) Koproduktionsförderung Tanz aus Mitteln des Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien aufgrund eines Beschlusses des Deutschen Bundestags.
Ian Kaler studied Transmedia Art in Vienna and completed the Contemporary Art, Context, Choreography pilot course at the Inter-University Dance Centre at the Berlin University of the Arts. Since 2010 Kaler has been developing a physical and creative practice as a choreographic series in exchange with various artists. The first work series, Insignificant Others, consists of the “raw” practice performance Untitled Stills (2010) and the work (learning to look sideways), developed in 2011/2012. In the subsequent series, On Orientations (2013), the installative solo performance On Orientations | one place after and a second part, On Orientations | Untimely Encounters, were produced. The video installation On Orientations | Shifting the Burden – a collaboration with the video artist Anne Quirynen – was shown in August 2014 as part of the 8th Berlin Dance Night in the Patrick Ebensperger Gallery. In 2014/2015 Kaler developed his series of group works – Contingencies – which were shown in various versions (for studio, museum, theatre) and with changing casts and numbers of performers. In 2014, together with students from the BA course for dance at the DOCH Stockholm, Kaler developed The Situation, an adaptation of (learning to look sideways) for seven dancers. Currently Kaler is working on a new series with the working title o.T. The first work in the new series, o.T. | (the emotionality of the jaw), was performed in February 2015 in Halle G / Tanzquartier Wien. (the emotionality of the jaw) is the first cooperation between Kaler and Jam Rostron aka Planningtorock. The premiere of the second work in the series – o.T. | (gateways to movement) – was in July 2015 as part of the ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival.

Jam Rostron aka Planningtorock is the British-born, Berlin-based artist behind the multimedia performance project Planningtorock. Rostron has recorded three albums with Planningtorock: in 2006 the debut album Have It All – W, published in 2011 with DFA Records, and the opera Tomorrow, In A Year, a collaboration with Mt. Sims and The Knife. In 2014 Rostron published the politically explicit album, All Love’s Legal, on Rostron’s own label, Human Level Recordings.
Stephanie Rauch graduated in stage and film design at the University of Applied
Arts Vienna and at the Wimbledon School of Arts London. Rauch developed works in the context of visual arts and for scenographic settings and took exactly this interface up as her own subject. In 2014, Rauch created the work Gelände at Tanzquartier Wien. Rauch developed spaces for choreographers like Philipp Gehmacher, Lisa Hinterreithner, Ian Kaler, Andrea Maurer and Frans Poelstra and for the Frankfurt Opera.
Stephane „Peeps“ Moun is a french dancer and choreographer, originally from Cameroon.
You will recognize him by his creative mind, his open heart, his tight rhythm and musicality, his smooth flow and his original signature creating his unique style. Peeps started with african dance 15 years ago and he never lost his roots. Peeps carries african moves and jazz dance throughout his dance styles, and gives them an urban twist. In the early 2000s Peeps started to dance hip hop. Peeps learned from where hip hop culture grow big, straight from the streets- the streets of Paris. Three years later Peeps found his passion for housedance and pushed it to its limits. Since Peeps knows you learn best, if you take your knowledge from the source, Peeps traveled to New York to live there and improve his tapdance skills. That was five years ago. During that time Peeps toured Germany, France, Japan, Switzerland, Spain and Marrocco to teach and learn, to give Workshops and win Dance Battles, just like JusteDebout (Germany) or World Dance Coliseum (Japan) in housedance. Peeps gets invited frequently to judge battles like Berlin best solo dancer and Elbcoast Battle in Germany, to just name a few. Now the artist is based in Berlin and chreographes for singers like Isis Salam and Culcha Candela, works with brands like Nike, Adidas and Puma, and he is Coach at the Flying Steps Academy.
