Frauen als Heldinnen (Women as Heros)
WWI was the first modern war. Not only armies have fought against each other, conflict parties have also tried to mobilize their entire society to victory. Therefore, during the war, not only did men of compulsory age participate, but also about 11 million women who lived in Hungary at the time.
The exhibition, which was shown for the first time at the Balassi Institute in Budapest in the autumn of 2015, would like to present the women's resistance struggle with the help of some typical details. The curators of the exhibition are the photographer and Kossuth Prize Károly Kincses and the historian Iván Bertényi Jun.
