FRANCESCO CICCOLELLA Alternate Realities
Fascinated by the post-factual age, where boundaries between truth and lies become blurred, populism conquers politics and contours of our common reality fade, Francesco Ciccolella’s show Alternate Realities at the Vienna Design Week 2017 explores our relationship to reality.
Ciccolella is an Austrian illustrator with Italian roots. Based in Vienna he creates conceptual illustrations for clients from around the world. He has worked with The Guardian, The New York Times, Die Zeit, The Financial Times, Monocle, Wired, Fast Company, Welt am Sonntag, Der Spiegel, Focus, Zeit Campus, Datum, Penguin Random House, Süddeutsche Zeitung Publishing, Google, Bene, IBM and Wien Museum, amongst many others.
In his own words: "I like to think that my work is about communicating, conveying ideas and telling stories in a poetical and hopefully compelling way. I believe that every story, message or concept has a visual equivalent somewhere in the back of our heads and that luckily it is my job to find it."
