Dream and Reality
The exhibition "Dream and Reality" - organised in 1985 by the Vienna Museum, then shown in the Künstlerhaus, Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York - has shaped the international understanding of the Viennese century. Within the framework of the conference "Empire, Socialism and Jews" leading scholars continue to think about the fundamental themes of the exhibition and ask about the connections between socialist traditions of postnational federation, Jewish affinity for the Habsburg monarchy and the continuities between the Habsburgs and Austrian history.
