Explore the interstices of transformation, dissolution, and letting go. In Daniel Lie's interactive installation of minerals, plants, and rotting fruit, atmospherically dense scenarios emerge, in which temporal linearity is dissolved in favour of a procedural understanding. A queer space, where alternative laws prevail. For the Wiener Festwochen, Daniel Lie creates a space-connecting sculpture, in which the boundaries between installation, performance, ritual, and various body practices are overcome. The starting point for this hybrid work is death in its inevitability, as well as in its banality. In this sense, elements of transience are present and arranged in space: sacred plants, flowers, earth, and decaying material. This gentle but intense overstimulation of the senses is complemented by the specific bass composition by the artist Vivian Caccuri. The Death Centre for the Living creates a state between trance, trip, and tropicalism. Experience the new horizontal! Alongside transience, the production of emotion and empathy and their democratic potential are the central themes of the visual artist Daniel Lie from São Paulo. He uses the phrase “emotional field” to refer to situations in which whole groups of individuals feel the same emotion at the same time and place, such as a funeral, a candomblé ritual, a brawl, or a demonstration.
