Invitation to participate in therapy sessions as an art performance

Clemens Krauss, with his pastose paintings and controversial video work, is one of the most complex artists of the younger generation. Besides his art studies at the Berlin University of the Arts, he completed his studies as a medical doctor and psychoanalyst.

He now combines both professions in a performative, procedural, artistic act within the scope of his solo exhibition "Unknowing" at Galerie Crone Vienna.

At the opening on October 17, 2017, the exhibition is finished only to a third with works.

During the exhibition from October 18 to November 18, 2017, visitors can participate in individual psychoanalytic therapy sessions held by Clemens Krauss himself. The sessions last for one hour and are anonymous. They take place in a separate, closed and non-public space of the gallery. Names and personal data of the participants are neither asked nor recorded.

Clemens Krauss uses the impressions and information that he receives during the therapies sessions as an artistic inspiration and processes them in paintings and installation works, which are added step by step to the already existing works of the exhibition. In this way, the exhibition is completed into an overall work of art, which is the result of constant interaction between the artist and the visitors respectively the participants of the therapy sessions. The entire gallery space becomes a continuously filled display of human emotions, sensations, and conjectures.

Therapy sessions with Clemens Krauss will take place in the period from October 18 to November 18, 2017
