Allan Sekula: From the Panorama to the Detail brings together various thinkers, historians, artists, and curators to discursively unpack the oceanic themes addressed in the exhibition and to expand and update some of the socio-political and environmental topics the work of Allan Sekula engages with. Thinking and debating through three thematically linked panels–each of which include and diverge from aspects of Sekula’s multifaceted output–and a serious of actual case studies tied to the investigation of the oceanic space, the symposium expands topics from a range of positions. These framings are meant to carve out a space for discussion around the critical capacity for Sekula’s work both in its historic and contemporary contexts.
